Bouncer at downtown Boston bar charged in stabbing death of Marine veteran from Illinois, police say

Martinez was rushed to an undisclosed Boston hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The bouncer was identified as Alvaro O. Larrama of East Boston, who worked at the Sons of Boston bar located at 19 Union St., according to prosecutors and the nightspot’s website.

Police shut down all bars on Union Street, which is across from Boston City Hall, while they did their on scene investigation Saturday night.

Larrama, 38, was held without bail on the charge of murder in Boston Municipal Court Monday afternoon.

At 6:53 pm on Saturday officers responded to a call of a person stabbed in the area of 33 Union St, prosecutors said. The victim, Martinez, was transported to Mass General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7:24 pm.
