Part III Bands/Artists must PROTECT THEMSELVES with their OWN RIDERS before Agreeing to a Show

CLUB BOHEMIA,

A POWERFUL VOICE FOR THE COMMUNITY

ONE VENUE TRIED TO HIJACK OUR INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY.

WE MUST BE DOING A GOOD THING FOR EVERYONE.

Put your own contract together that club management must sign, favorable to you. Don't be bullied just because there are fewer clubs to play during a pandemic. Protect yourselves, artists.

Don't be bullied by Club Management.

Create YOUR OWN "Rider" to your contract with a list of demands, including how you will be paid. If you don't have a separate business tax ID, do you want to hand over your social security number to people that you don't know?

Ask your accountant.

In Cambridge a VAXX card is not required. If a club demands it go to the Board of Health and the Cambridge City Council.

Complain to the Cambridge City Council about any inconsistencies with Cambridge venues demanding too much of you and possibly nothing in return from their corporation which will aid you and the show.

Go to a Cambridge City Council meeting and complain if you feel you are being treated unfairly https://clubbohemianews.blogspot.com/2022/01/part-iii-bandsartists-must-protect.html

During the pandemic there are fewer clubs to perform it.  Unethical and novice "club managers" seek to put demands on the artists to draw a crowd and play by club management rules.

Artists can protect themselves by creating their own RIDER and make it a demand for their performances, hard work and honest efforts promoting the show.  The Rider should include a note that the venue is required to publicize the program and not rely on the band to be the draw. The venue and the program must be the draw.

In theater, dance, and live musical performances, a rider is a set of requests or demands that a performer sets as criteria for performance, which are ...

A rider is an addition to a contract. In the performing world, a rider specifies an artist's requirements when performing at a venue. It may include specific expectations when it comes to hospitality, security, and technical equipment.Jul 12, 2020

Jim Peterik of Ides of March and Survivor has this RIDER with his agent, Paradise Artists.  Both the agency and the artist are terrific. I've interviewed Peterik and brought the band SPIRIT to Paradise.
