Pamela Ruby Russell - Photographer Songwriter Writer
NEW SONG RELEASE: JANUARY 17, 2022
LOVE’S CALLING 03:11
AVAILABLE ON SPOTIFY, APPLE MUSIC, etc.
Pamela Ruby Russell, an award winning artist, is about joy. She's performed and recorded with her Boston-based bands, studied voice with Mark Baxter, piano, writing and acting. She has recorded with some of the greats: Peter Calo (Guitar/Musical Dir.: Carly Simon, James Taylor), Mario Gil (Arrangements, Songwriting & Piano: Adele, Alice Cooper & James Brown. Producer at Sony & Arista Music), Robert Holmes, (Guitar & Vocals: ’Til Tuesday & Ultra Blue), Andy Pratt (Avenging Annie hit songwriter), Charlton Pettus (Guitar: Tears For Fears), Richard Viard (French composer & master guitarist). The jazz pianist, Keith Jarrett invited Pamela personally to his seminar 'On Spontaneity.' Honing her music skills nurtured her other big love, the camera. Her first mentor was NYC photographer Myron Ehrenberg. The seed of an artist grew as she sought honesty and truth in all her work.
Board President of an Access TV station, former Vice Chair of her local Dems Comm., years ago Ms Ruby organized her college's first Vietnam protest and produced her gallery exhibit, 'As The River Flows So Flows the Man,' an exposé of paper mills and other polluters, photographing the entire Hudson River’s coastline from NY to NJ. She also acted in challenging plays, 'Chamber Music' as Pearl White, by Arthur Kopit and Giraudoux's 'The Madwoman of Chaillot,' such appropriate beginnings for a wild woman with the makings of a film up her sleeve! Her writing has won national First Prize awards and she is now in “Seeds” a full feature horror film that is garnering international film festival awards all through Europe and the USA.
Riding an elephant in a Mexican circus was but one of her adventures. One magic midnight she sang atop the Temple of Quetzalcóatl at the Sun Pyramid in Teotihuacán, Mexico. Come dawn hundreds of encamped people awaiting a Mayan high holy day honored her for purifying their sacred site with her voice. Listen to her song 'Avenue of Tears.' Reading Tarot cards in a Mexican cafe she learned enough Spanish to write 'Tengo Razon(Para Vivir),’ soon to be featured on the upcoming Boston Rock and Roll Anthology. Decades ago Pamela owned a small P’town, Cape Cod restaurant, 'Vital Vittles' and still loves cooking. While traveling, connecting with old and new friends, she always has a camera with her. Her songs, photographs and stories give joy to audiences and clients alike.
"We're not strangers. Creating art that heals is my work. Life's short and we're not always dealt easy hands. It's the playing of those cards with forgiveness and wisdom that moves us through space and time in profound ways. What I've learned I share! That's how I live!" Pamela Ruby Russell has dedicated her energy to these principles, in joy! Thank you.
