the state of College Radio

THIS IS A ROUGH DRAFT, BUT I'M HAPPY TO POST IT IN PUBLIC AS IT GOES THROUGH THE PROCESS OF CREATION AND EDITING.
What does the BookExpo America shutting down have to do with college radio? Wikipedia notes "The 2020 edition was initially delayed from May 2020 to July 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but was later canceled. In December 2020, Reed Exhibitions announced that BookExpo America and sister events BookCon and Unbound would be "retired" indefinitely in order to "explore new ways to meet the community's needs through a fusion of in-person and virtual events."
The pandemic impacting the BookExpo is a wildly huge indicator of what college radio is going through simultaneously, pushing the arts online.
This article was planned to be about the evolution of college radio and how it is part of internet radio; how some in the media feel college radio is becoming more relevant where I see it as a good community resource which should merge with cities, towns where a particular station is located as well as merging with college TV and public access TV. The article will also focus on the bigger emergence of high school radio...and how some radio stations ran over the cable TV airwaves.
COLLEGE RADIO, CAMPUS RADIO
Wikipedia calls the format "Campus Radio." Here how it is described: Campus radio (also known as college radio, university radio or student radio) is a type of radio station that is run by the students of a college, university or other educational institution. Programming may be exclusively by students,
or may include programmers from the wider community in which the radio
station is based. Sometimes campus radio stations are operated for the
purpose of training professional radio personnel, sometimes with the aim
of broadcasting educational programming, while other radio stations
exist to provide alternative to commercial broadcasting or government broadcasters. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campus_radio
