ROCK AND FOLK MAGAZINE, FRANCE, NOVEMBER 1977, 45 YEARS AGO! BIGGEST ROCK MAGAZINE IN FRANCE AT THE TIME, I AM TOLD.

ROCK AND FOLK MAGAZINE, FRANCE, NOVEMBER 1977, 45 YEARS AGO! BIGGEST ROCK MAGAZINE IN FRANCE AT THE TIME, I AM TOLD. THANKS TO JIMMY AT UPS STORE WOBURN FOR THE TRANSLATION: - COUNT: “The Morn Of The Confrontation” (Varulven, imp. M.B.) Ah, another great madman! the performer in question is called Joseph A. Viglione, and according to the small paper inserted in the E.P. (with photos, autobio and lyrics), he presents all the characteristics revered in this column: absolutism, extravagance, cheek and chic. And the music proves up close that he does not lie. Decidedly, the State of Massa chussetts is full of deranged geniuses. This one, with his comrades, obviously resembles the style of the Modern Lovers, while wearing the same tinsel as Roky Erick's: quite a program. In it, you will find a magnificent piece of rocking intelligence (the title), sick blues (“Whiskey Mama”), a very emotional salute to the Beach Boys (“Salt Water”) and the indispensable tremolo romance ( “Jodi”). The whole thing is not strictly speaking either very coherent or quite “product”, but you have understood that this is the prodigy: this shimmering emergence of shimmering, frenzied, overwhelming sounds. We will come back to it. But don't miss the first call of this singer/songwriter.
