CLUB BOHEMIA TO RETURN TO SOMERVILLE
For close to two decades, Club Bohemia has been showcasing local talent in live revues. Though now based in the basement of Cambridge’s Cantab Lounge, the Boho got its start in Somerville’s Kirkland CafĂ©, where the club operated from 1993 to 2007, when the Kirkland closed its doors.
Now, for one night only, Club Bohemia will return to Somerville, when on Wednesday March 21st, it hosts a local listening party, in conjunction with the Somerville Arts Council, at Somerville’s groovy new record shop, Somerville Grooves. At this swinging soiree, Club Bohemia’s main man, Mickey Bliss will spin records and discs by local artists, with heavy emphasis on acts from the Club Bohemia stable. In addition to playing the hits by club regulars like Kenne Highland, the Darlings and Lyres, Bliss will also drop rarities from the likes of LaPeste, the Neighborhoods and the Nervous Easters. And, since Bliss is such as John Felice fanatic, you can expect to hear a substantial selection of Real Kids, Lowdowns and Devotions tracks.
As an added attraction, this event will feature in-store appearances by Club Bohemia top acts—The Images and Hookerclops—together with record give aways.
The party will run from 6 to 8 PM. Admission is free. All are welcome. Somerville Grooves is wheelchair accessible.
