Brian Foye

A young, inspiring acoustic guitar player, Brian Foye has released his first independent CD titled ‘Rough Draft.’ Originally from the small town of Lowell, Massachusetts, near Boston, Brian is here in Washington studying creative writing. In his music, Brian sticks to the simple essentials of music: a voice, an instrument, and writing from the heart. His lyrics, demonstrated in such songs as ‘Lake Side Night’ and ‘The Storm’ are songs about living in the now, building off the past, and dreaming of the future, all encompassed around the theme of love. Steph Barrak

S
Steph Barrak is an independent singer/songwriter based out of Boston, MA. Her songs are melodically and lyrically driven, often incorporating elements of folk, country, and pop. Recently, Steph teamed up with local record producer, Mike Davidson, and spent the last two years recording her debut album, Words To Break Your Heart. She plans to release the album in early 2013.
Steph’s urge to write began at a young age and she often cites Freddie Mercury of Queen as her biggest inspiration. She began performing live at college open mics in 2006 and very quickly started headlining shows of her own. Since then, Steph has played over 50 shows at several notable venues, including The Knitting Factory in NYC, and has shared the stage with acts like Jenny Owen Youngs. Steph’s voice has often been compared to that of Suzanne Vega’s and her sound can be described as indie rock meets folk-pop.

Mickey Bliss to spin at GROOVES - Somerville 6-8 PM 25 Union Square March 21, 2012

For Immediate Release

February 25th, 2012

What: Local Artist Record Party

Where: Somerville Grooves

25 Union Sq

Somerville, MA

When: 3/21/12 6PM-8PM

CLUB BOHEMIA TO RETURN TO SOMERVILLE

For close to two decades, Club Bohemia has been showcasing local talent in live revues. Though now based in the basement of Cambridge’s Cantab Lounge, the Boho got its start in Somerville’s Kirkland Café, where the club operated from 1993 to 2007, when the Kirkland closed its doors.

Now, for one night only, Club Bohemia will return to Somerville, when on Wednesday March 21st, it hosts a local listening party, in conjunction with the Somerville Arts Council, at Somerville’s groovy new record shop, Somerville Grooves. At this swinging soiree, Club Bohemia’s main man, Mickey Bliss will spin records and discs by local artists, with heavy emphasis on acts from the Club Bohemia stable. In addition to playing the hits by club regulars like Kenne Highland, the Darlings and Lyres, Bliss will also drop rarities from the likes of LaPeste, the Neighborhoods and the Nervous Easters. And, since Bliss is such as John Felice fanatic, you can expect to hear a substantial selection of Real Kids, Lowdowns and Devotions tracks.

As an added attraction, this event will feature in-store appearances by Club Bohemia top acts—The Images and Hookerclops—together with record give aways.

The party will run from 6 to 8 PM. Admission is free. All are welcome. Somerville Grooves is wheelchair accessible.

For further information, please contact David Plunkett at (617)666-1749.

Singer Songwriter Showcase! 8-9:45 PM

Sam Chase

Sam Chase is a singer/songwriter and multi instrumentalist from Scituate, MA. After graduating from Berklee College of Music he released his debut album Songs For Someone in 2009. A finalist in the ’09 Solarfest Songwriting Competition in Vermont and winner of the 2010 Connecticut Folk Festival Songwriting Competition, Chase has established himself as one of
the premiere up and coming singer/songwriters in New England. Sam’s music blends folk, blues, country and rock into a smooth, melodic sound that is familiar yet completely original. Artists like James Taylor and Paul Simon come to mind when hearing Chase, yet he sings with a voice entirely his own-both soothing and effortless. Sam is set to release his second album ‘Every Time I’m Home’ in March 2012. For more info visit
www.samchasemusic.com

Jason Labbe
BiographyJason is a local Boston musician born and raised. A self taught guitarist and vocalist he has always had a passion for music. His musical style could be compared to that of John Mayer, Howie Day, Jason Mraz or similar acoustic rock artists, though it does not stop there. Influenced by all genres of music his songs are an eclectic mix straight from the soul.

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jason-Labbe-Music/165020230174686?sk=info

Lenny Solomon

Singer/songwriter/guitarist Lenny Solomon's style has been compared to Guy Clark, early Bob Dylan, John Prine, and Jerry Jeff Walker. Solomon began his career in the late 1960s. A fixture in the Idler Coffeehouse in Harvard Square, Cambridge, he regularly performed there Friday nights for over eight years.

The Idler was a training ground for such luminaries as
Geoff Bartley, Paul Rishell, Spider John Koerner, and Ric Ocasek. From the 1980s through the mid-1990s Solomon continued to write songs but rarely performed choosing rather to raise his family and work in environmental research at Harvard University. In 1997 Solomon got back into performing and in 2002 released his CD Not Life Threatening. Armando’s Pie (2004) and Maybe Today (2007), followed. Solomon performs in concerts, clubs, restaurants, coffeehouses, and colleges.
