ANDREA BALLOTTA PHONED ME AND TOLD ME OF A COVID OUTBREAK AT CANTAB
AFTER OPENING NIGHT AND PEOPLE NOT WEARING THEIR MASKS, AS REQUIRED BY THE CLUB, I DID MY WORK FROM HOME.
ALLEGEDLY, GM MIKE CRONIN CAUGHT COVID, ALLEGEDLY A BARTENDER AND THREE OR FOUR OTHER STAFFERS, ALLEGEDLY
I WAS ORDERED NOT TO DISCUSS IT OR I WOULD BE FIRED.
THEY USED THAT TACTIC A LOT ON ME.
NOW I AM INVESTIGATING HOW GOOD A NEIGHBOR MR AND MRS. DIBBLE REALLY WERE.
WHEN THE CELTICS OWNER HAD HIS PARTY FEW WERE WEARING MASKS.
THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND HEALTH INSPECTORS IN CAMBRIDGE NEED TO FULLY INVESTIGATE
I AM WORKING ON IT.

Geoff Bartley's Revenge
Ol' Bartley, great guy when he's on his meds (allegedly) really must've had it in for the new Cantab crew.
He said he was moving to the Bahamas or something (it was a joke) and pawned Tony Watt off on Creepy Cronin and Crew.
I interviewed Watt, and he demanded I unpublish everything that he said. Now that's a crackpot, right?
On the record.
And then he credited his no-show self and Tim Dibble and Mike Cronin for resurrecting the Cantab when Mickey Bliss and I did all the hard work.

Tony Watt
all seething with envy
God bless you, Geoff Bartley! You were smart enough to stay away HA
Tony Watt the FxxK!
Asked me to book bands for him
Lazy
Full of himself
and a no-show
He couldn't even give me the bookings, because, allegedly, he had none
Welcome to the Cantab Zoo under Mike Abusive GM Cronin and his Hostile Work Environment
Just ask bands other than the ones getting paid for upstairs.
One band said he'd never play the Cantab again
It was a Cluster F during Covid
Perhaps when Cronin allegedly caught the covid it did something to his already dented and abusive brain.
Note to Mike: Even at 68 I date ONLY good looking men.
You're out of luck, Mikey!
The minute they found out I was gay things changed. When they mentioned a gay night to make money I said my usual: "I hate gay people."
"You do????"
"Yes, after four of my last five husbands you'd hate them too."
Suddenly there was a chill...and Mike Cronin is telling me he loves me and that this old guy looks like "a million bucks."
I wish!!!!
Along with yelling and screaming at me as much as Cronin could on the phone
What an abuser
What a horrifying hostile work environment.
Bands beware~
Mike Cronin needs a psychiatrist. Let's get a benefit going for him....to get Mikey (a limited public figure as GM) the help that I think that he needs
Under the Massachusetts Public Records Act § 66-10 et seq., I am requesting an opportunity to inspect or obtain copies of public records that
A Covid-19 exposure has closed The Cantab Lounge until 5 p.m. Dec. 30, the newly reopened bar said Wednesday. That brings it back in time for a Chicken Slacks performance and next-day New Year’s Eve party with the band Summer of George – but means skipping this week’s Thursday residency with the Slacks’ classic soul/funk sound.
The Massachusetts Public Records Act requires a response to this request within 10 days. If access to the records I am requesting will take longer than this amount of time, please contact me with information about when I might expect copies or the ability to inspect the requested records.
If you deny any or all of this request, please cite each specific exemption you feel justifies the refusal to release the information and notify me of the appeal procedures available to me under the law.
Thank you for considering my request.
Sincerely,
Editorial Coming Soon on Mr. and Mrs. Tim Dibble and how they are destroying the Cambridge music scene and hurting New England bands.
Selfish, with abusive employees that they embrace, Tim Dibble is NOT an honest person and his charities need to take notice of that
Editorial soon
I HAVE ALL YOUR NASTY TEXTS, KYLIE, AND THEY WILL BE EXHIBITS IN A COURT OF LAW.
THE CANTAB LOUNGE,
LITTLE JOE COOK MUST BE FURIOUS
Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Dibble are the joke of the New England Rock and Roll Scene.
The Dibbles handed the Instagram off to their daughter. OK, nepotism is their way of being a "neighbor to the community," fine...but the ignorance of Kylia Connors knows no bounds
My lawyer will have a field day in court with this information, and I am suing the Cantab Lounge
Mickey Bliss said in my car when GM Mike Cronin refused to pay us in September of 2021 that he felt Kylie Connors would screw us...well, Mickey did NOT defend me, like Nancy L. Foster at ARTSCOPE, where I got both those people hired. Mickey's Karma.
I will see Attorney G Steven Anzuoni (Mickey Bliss,) Mike Cronin and Kylie Connors in a court of law. Unbelievable how know-nothings that Tim Dibble hired are screwing our rock and roll scene!
A message from the Cantab posted online May 9.
The club wants to book more DJs from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. starting June 1 and move live music to a 4 to 9 p.m. slot, Bliss said he was told. “An established band’s not going to come in from 4 to 9 p.m. and play. If they do play, nobody’s gonna show up,” he said.
In addition, the Cantab is looking to rent the downstairs space for private events and will cancel whatever band was booked for that time, he said, and that also makes him uncomfortable: “When I book a band, I promised them they have the room unless there’s some kind of emergency.”
History with the club
The Cantab – established 1938 and owned by Richard “Fitzy” Fitzgerald for much of the past 50 years – was among businesses closed by the coronavirus in March 2020. On July 19, 2020, Fitzgerald said he was selling, and it looked as though the good times were at an end; Tim Dibble, a partner in a private equity firm, stepped in to buy and refurbish the joint. He relaunched with Bliss and longtime partner publicist Joe Viglione, back from the Fitzgerald days, but Viglione left acrimoniously in January when the club demanded control of social media accounts and his role overall.
The “Bohemia” branding was launched by Bliss in 1993 at the Kirkland Cafe, a club at 425 Washington St., Somerville, and he and Viglione moved it to the Cantab when the Kirkland closed in May 2007. The Cantab rebranded the basement space to the Underground in January.
Bliss, who said he installed the Underground’s $13,000 sound system for free, has been active running that board in recent months, especially after the club first said it would take over running the upstairs bookings set up by Bliss.
DJs and bands
The club tried emphasizing DJs once before, in 2018, but the experiment ended after three months. “There are DJs that can pack a place, and we’ve had them in the Cantab before, but they’re big-name DJs that cost probably a couple thousand dollars for a night. Usually they’re from out of town and you have to pay for them to come in, and for a hotel room,” Bliss said. “If you get that kind of DJ, yeah, you can pack them in for $20 a person and they’ll line up to the bar and be drinking like fish. The DJs they’re getting, I believe, are just local guys working for the door [cover charge] or whatever. They don’t draw.”
While a DJ might arrive with a few people for their night, a full bill of bands offers the possibility of filling the room just with performers and their friends and family: four bands of four people each, with each person in a band bringing in one or more people. That can be good for a club’s bar revenue, though Bliss said the Cantab went against his advice and started to let bands drink for free. “You might look at it like [my approach is] a scam, but you know, the bands are happy to have a place to play,” Bliss said. “You now have 20 guys getting 40 drinks? And naturally the bands are ordering all top-shelf liquor. So it’s costing a lot of money and inventory.”
Lou Spin in Somerville News Weekly
Musician Greg Paquette introduced me to disc jockey Lou Spinnazola. Lou is starting his show up again Monday nights 8-midnight, now on Mixcloud. Interview conducted Sunday 5/22/22.
Spin room on Mix Cloud Monday May 30...the show begins anew
LS: Technically, I’ve never been a radio professional, but I’ve always had a passion for it. It just never seemed like a good way to build a career. So in my 50s, I participated in a show hosted by my friend John Scavo, “The Scratchy 45s and Beyond, on WSCA-LP in Portsmouth, NH” I did some co-hosting, research and lots of production. I even did production for the rest of the station. It was a real joy ____________________________________________________

JV: Tell us about Mixcloud. You've been airing some shows on MixCloud as well as a brunch midweek, is that right? LS: Mixcloud is a web service that hosts independent disc-jockeys and people like me who want to be disc-jockeys. They’ve been around for several years. I’ve been archiving many of my past Spin Room shows there for a time. Lately, I’ve been hosting an hour long show on Wednesdays at 12:00 noon on a channel named, “The Gator Mix.” I was invited to participate by the owner of the channel, Scott Polley, so I couldn’t say no.
JV: Will you have a chat room simultaneous with MixCloud airings? If so, what address? LS: Yes, there will be a chatroom available to people who have a valid account (paid or unpaid). That way, we can catch up and chat while the tunes play. It’s also a really great way to pass along suggestions, requests or interesting facts about the music being played.
LS: I’ve only been as a caller. That’s it.
JV: Tell us about your favorite artists over the past 50 years?
LS: There are so many! But at the top are The Beatles (of course), Chicago, Steely Dan, 10cc, Santana, The Cars, Traffic, Huffamoose… Damn so many! I also really enjoy bands that had one or two hits. I also love to discover Rock Genealogies trying to learn where the influences came from. But seeing all of that would make it seem as though I’m locked into Classic Rock, but I am absolutely not. I love hearing new things that might be the next sound that really excites me. That’s where you’ve come in, Joe. You’ve introduced me to a lot of new artists who are making fantastic, new music! Thank you for that.
JV: Tell us about you
LS: I grew up in Boston’s North End, born
in the late 50s. For every day of my life, there has been a radio
playing. I still can’t live without some type of music going in the
background. I was drawn to the people who were radio announcers, hosts
or DJs. I envied that they could play their music and talk to people
like me, listening and hanging on every word, every bad joke. I started
buying my own music in 1969/70 and I’ve been collecting ever since. I
attended Boston Public Schools and U. Mass – Boston. I have spent most
of my working career in IT. I’m a nerd, but my love for photography,
music, travel and Deb keep me balanced.
JV: Thanks for participating, Lou
