n 1976 when Lou Reed toured in advance of his Coney Island Baby LP he closed his shows out with “Complete the Story Now” by Nelson Slater.  Nelson was in a band with Reed at Syracuse University. What is fascinating about this is that I’ve owned multiple copies of the Wild Angel LP with cover photography by Mick Rock and never realized my close friend and confidante Jo Jo Laine was the cover girl!   It’s a woman in bondage and…funny thing…we had a photo session in New York with Mick Rock and Jo Jo in the 1980s and neither brought up the album’s cover!   That’s what happens when you do so much work, as Mick and Jo Jo have done over the years.  So my friend Nelson Slater came to Cambridge at the wonderful Weirdo Records on Mass Ave where for the past 4 years they have had independent artists performing on Monday nights.  A true labor of love and extremely wonderful store. Nelson is amazing in concert and having a great show in an intimate setting (with a Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground poster looking over the band) was lots of fun.  Here’s a bit of it for Made in Medford

The IV (pronounced eye-VEE) is a 4pc band out of Boston that play original Rock and cover Grunge & 90s AltRock songs.
Biography
John McNeeley and Dan Miller (formerly of the Suburban Exiles) came up with the idea to start a Grunge cover band called The Grungies. Dan recruited friend and drummer Sawyer Van Horn while John got his longtime friend and collaborator Bill Murphy to complete the lineup. As John and Dan started to write some originals, the course of the band changed direction and now The IV play both originals and covers around Boston's south shore.

Description   
The IV (pronounced EYE-VEE) are a Boston area rock band that play catchy garage-indie originals as well as Alt Rock and Classic Rock covers.
